Vital VLC Tweak: Enable Playlist Loop

Streaming streams can experience minor dropouts. By default, if VLC loses connection for a split second, it stops playback or jumps to the next channel in the list.

VLC Stream Interruption ──> (Loop Button Disabled) ──> Jumps to next channel
VLC Stream Interruption ──> (Loop Button Enabled) ──> Retries current channel
  • The Fix: Locate the Loop Button at the bottom playback control bar (two arrows in a circle). Click it until it displays a small 1 or highlights the loop icon. This forces VLC to retry the same channel feed rather than jumping to a different station.

Adjusting VLC Buffer Cache for High-Bitrate Feeds

If your video stutter-plays, increase the network cache memory:

  1. Go to Tools > Preferences (set Show Settings to All in the bottom left).
  2. Navigate to Input / Codecs.
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced section.
  4. Change Network caching (ms) from 1000 to 3000 or 5000 (pre-loads 3-5 seconds of buffer). Click Save.
